Contemporary Flamenco Group
With a program that covers flamenco, Latin, Brazilian, Middle Eastern and Jazz, Barbara sang in Carnegie Hall last year in an evening of flamenco and jazz. She performs regularly in jazz clubs with a select group of talented musicians from all over the world. She also performs with Gerard Edery in a program that traces Sephardic music and the music of Northern Africa, the Middle East and Persia as well. She can also be seen with Espiritu Gitano & Friends in a program that features flamenco, Indian and Middle Eastern music and dance.

Traditional Flamenco
Flamenco is intoxicating rhythms, dynamic energy, eye-catching costumes, heartfelt expression. It is one of Spain's oldest traditions, with its roots deeply intertwined in Gypsy, Jewish, Muslim and Christian cultures.
Barbara Martinez has been an important member of the flamenco community in New York City for 12 years. She leads flamenco shows for special events, such as festivals, corporate events, school shows, private parties. The dancers and musicians she works with are among the most respected flamenco artists in the U.S. and Spain. Programs range from duet to full company. People love to book traditional flamenco shows for different kinds of events, from weddings to school assemblies.

School Programs
The Arts-Ed section of this website describes the school programs at length. Barbara conducts lecture demonstrations and residencies in schools, colleges and universities. She has a wealth of experience doing school programs as a member of many of New York's flamenco companies and independently. She has taken her troupe to perform for school shows at Ethical Culture/Fieldston, Horace Mann School, Riverdale Country School, New York University and many others.
